Glenn brings extensive experience leading nonprofit and sports management organizations, previously serving as CEO of USRowing, an Olympic National Governing Body (NGB)

Kirk BauerEMERITUS DIRECTOR
After Kirk Bauer, JD lost his leg from a grenade explosion in Vietnam in 1969, he experienced the thrill of snow skiing as part of his rehabilitation through Disabled Sports USA, which was just beginning as an organization. Now 49 years later, after 13 years as a volunteer and participant and 36 years as executive director, Kirk has led the organization to become one of the largest programs in the nation; serving individuals with disabilities, through over 120 community DSUSA chapters in 40 states. Kirk was twice awarded the Bronze Star for heroism in battle and holds a Doctorate of Law degree from Boston University.

Cheryl CollinsINSURANCE AND RISK DIRECTOR
Cheryl joined Disabled Sports USA in 2001. As Insurance and Risk Director she administers the DSUSA Group Insurance Program’s Commercial General/Excess Liability, Directors & Officers and Employment Practices Liability insurance policies as well as the individualized chapter Business Auto (Non-Owned Hired Auto), Inland Marine Insurance and Property Insurance policies. She also oversees the DSUSA chapter formation process through which organizations providing adaptive and inclusive sports, recreation and education opportunities can become chapter members of DSUSA.

Kyleen DavisCHAPTER SERVICES MANAGER
Kyleen has worked with Disabled Sports USA since 2005, and as the Chapter Services Manager, she handles the Chapter Outreach Program, Grants Administration, and other chapter services initiatives. She also administers the Race Camp at The Hartford Ski Spectacular. Kyleen has a B.A. in History from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and a Masters in Tourism Administration with a concentration in Sports Management from The George Washington University. Outside the office, Kyleen can be found hiking with her dog, baking, and attempting to garden.

Orlando GillFIELD REPRESENTATIVE
Orlando Gill has been with the organization since 2006, first serving as a volunteer, then a Program Assistant Coordinator, and currently as a Field Representative. Orlando acts as the face of the organization, going to various hospitals speaking to wounded soldiers about DSUSA’s mission. He is a peer mentor for many of the soldiers as he knows first-hand what they are experiencing, considering he too was wounded in Iraq; he is an above-the-knee amputee. Orlando, whose favorite sports are snowboarding and SCUBA, describes his favorite part of the job as “actually getting the patients out participating in sports.”

Huarya Gomez-GarciaPROGRAM MANAGER
Huayra has been with DSUSA since 2006, first as an intern, a program coordinator and then the Executive Assistant to Kirk Bauer for 7 years. She is now a program manager responsible for DSUSA’s Empower YOUth Sports, Boston Strong Adaptive Sports, the annual Ski Spectacular, and internship program. She also manages the Athletics for All task force, comprised of national and regional disability sports organizations that are working together to promote and facilitate inclusion of students with disabilities in high school sports. Huayra is a proud graduate of the University of Florida (Go Gators!), where she obtained her B.S. in Exercise and Sports Sciences with a specialization in Athletic Training and a minor in Spanish. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing volleyball, dancing, watching sports and traveling.

Julianne MillsPROGRAM MANAGER
Julianne serves as Program Manager for DSUSA’s Adapt2Achieve program. She first discovered adaptive sport as a high school student volunteering at a therapeutic riding program. After completing a B.S. in psychology, Julianne pursued a career in equine assisted activities as a PATH International Advanced Registered Instructor. She also has extensive experience in volunteer management and piloted a mentor program to provide supported volunteer opportunities for adults with disabilities. Her idea of the perfect weekend is getting off the grid with friends and family to enjoy camping, fishing, and freedom from alarm clocks. She is the two-time winner of DSUSA’s Annual Chili Cookoff.

Breanne PodgorskiPROGRAM SPECIALIST
Bre Podgorski joined the DSUSA team in August of 2013 as an intern and never looked back. A 2013 graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism, Bre found her love of providing opportunities for people with disabilities through working as a camp counselor and managing the wheelchair basketball team. Bre is an avid Cubs fan from the Southside of Chicago and spends her free time at baseball games, trying to catch an Illini football or basketball game, or participating in one of her many recreational sports leagues.

Julia RayPROGRAMS DIRECTOR
Julia Ray has been working with Disabled Sports USA since 2003. During her tenure she has been instrumental in getting individuals with disabilities, including youth and wounded warriors involved in adaptive sports. Julia oversees DSUSA’s summer and winter programs, Warfighter Sports, The Hartford Ski Spectacular and more. Prior to joining DSUSA, she worked in United Kingdom in adaptive sports programming, exercise testing and international doping control.She is a certified gymnastics coach, SCUBA diver and has many years’ experience in the development and expansion of sports programs for people with disabilities. Julia received a B.S. (HONS) in Sports Administration and Management. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and two daughters.

Ryan SemkeINSURANCE PROGRAM MANAGER
Ryan started as an intern with DSUSA in September of 2014. Upon completion of his internship, he returned to Springfield College and graduated in May 2015 with a degree in Sport Management. In September of 2015 he returned to DSUSA and hasn’t looked back. He is now a member of the Insurance and Risk Reduction team. Ryan is a firm believer in the positive effects that sports can have on someone’s spirit, mind, and body. Ryan is from upstate New York and is an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoys spending his time hiking, being on the water, sitting by a fire and playing pick-up basketball. He is also working towards obtaining his Adaptive Level 1 snowboarding certification.

Dave SimonsonDEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Dave Simonson began with DSUSA in 2010 and focuses on development, sponsor relations and social media. He has worked in both the nonprofit and private sectors, and also served for eight years in the U.S. Air Force. Dave’s favorite sports are running, cycling and swimming and he posts regularly on our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels.

Bill SnyderCHIEF FINANCIAL AND OPERATING OFFICER
Bill joined Disabled Sports USA in 2010 and splits his time between financial management and overseeing operations. He brings more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management to the team. Bill grew up in Northeast Pennsylvania and is married to Becky; they live in Germantown, MD with their children Elizabeth and Billy. Bill holds an undergraduate degree from Penn State University and a graduate certificate in nonprofit studies from Johns Hopkins University. Bill loves hiking and enjoys watching Penn State football. He is currently trying to keep up with his son in Karate.

Shuan ButcherCOMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Shuan joined the Disabled Sports USA team in 2017. He has spent over 20 years in the nonprofit sector in various capacities and leadership positions. He received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University. A former Army Veteran, he has coordinated the annual Brunswick Veterans Day for the past five years and is involved in other community organizations and efforts. Shuan has written for various publications, including the Frederick News Post, Eastern Home & Travel magazine, and others. He is also a member of the National Press Club. He lives in Frederick (MD) with his wife Cindy and dog Snowball. They enjoy a number of outdoor activities, live music, and traveling.

Lily joined the Disabled Sports USA team in 2018 as a program specialist. Originally from Buffalo, New York, she received her B.S. in Physical Education in 2016 and M.S.Ed in Adapted Physical Education at The College at Brockport in 2018. Throughout her education, Lily worked for a non-profit summer sports camp organization for children with visual impairments and competed for the Division III gymnastics team. She enjoys anything to do with Harry Potter, petting cute dogs, and outdoor adventures.
