Whether you have Paralympic ambitions or would like to try competition for the first time, there are a number of regional adaptive sports competitions for you! These events, hosted by Disabled Sports USA chapters, provide great opportunities to test your abilities, learn from other athletes who come from around the country, and make new friends.  A number of these games also allow you a chance to get your Paralympic classification as well.


Adult National Open and Great Lakes Regional Games, Lake Forest, Illinois, May 18-20

Each year Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association hosts the Adult National Open and Great Lakes Regional Games, a multi-day sports competition for athletes with physical or visual disabilities. Events include: swimming, track & field, archery, powerlifting, air rifle, and boccia. The event is comprised of two competitions; Great Lakes Regional Games – a regional qualifying event for the USA Junior Nationals, and the Adult National Open for adults aged 23+, injured military veterans and more experienced/elite athletes. This multi-sport event hosted by the Disabled Athlete Sports Association offers competition in archery, power lifting, boccia, track & field, and swimming to athletes with physical or visual disabilities from around the country. UCO Endeavor Games in Edmond, Oklahoma, June 7-10

Desert Challenge Games, in the Phoenix Metro Area of Arizona, June 14-17

The Desert Challenge Games are a multi-day competition for individuals ages 7 through adulthood with a physical, visual or intellectual disability. The event will be part of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix and is the only Athletics Grand Prix event taking place in North and Central America this year. Events include track & field, swimming, archery and air gun & rifle.  There will be Athletics International Classification for Physical, Visual and Intellectual Impairment as well as National Classification for Athletics (track and field), Archery and Swimming.
