Tenacious, curious, silly

Why are sports important to you?
For years when I was growing up, people told me that I couldn’t do certain things…I couldn’t walk or run, couldn’t play certain sports — things that people in adaptive sports have heard far too often. Sports, and particularly running, allow me to prove all those people wrong and help me feel strong and powerful. They also provide the platform to bring these feeling of strength and joy to other (especially younger) people through adaptive sports.

What is your biggest accomplishment in your sport?

What does a typical day in your training program look like?
Morning — ~15/20 minute cross training and stretching session before heading off to work for the day Afternoon — sprinting workout, my favourite time of the day! During a typical week in season, I will do one day of extensive tempo (usually 200m repeats), one day of speed work, one day of lifting, one day of longer sprints (500s, 600s, etc.) and pre-meet block work on Friday before Saturday competition. Evening — my other favourite time of day: DINNER! I love to cook, so my post-run dinner is usually where I get my chef on. After dinner I will usually do some light stretching, maybe watch some television or read before heading to bed.
